2010 Lunar New Year Stamp

The Chinese lunar calendar series has already become a popular collecting choice worldwide, with the 2009 Year of the Ox products selling fast. This year is no exception either.

A series of stamp that is as bold and fierce as its namesake animal suggests has been issued welcome the Year of Tiger in style.

The Genie, the man, the highway and the woman

A man came across Aladdin’s Lamp and rubbed it. Out pops a Genie, “I shall grant you one wish for releasing me from the lamp.”

“How nice”, says the man, “I would like you to build me a highway all the way to Hawaii.”

“That’s quite an undertaking. I don’t know if I can do that. Would you like to change your wish?” says the Genie.

“Alright then”, the man paused, “In that case, I would like to be able to fully understand women.”

“Women you say?” the Genie frown, “Say.. about your previous wish, will that be two lanes or four lanes?”

NASA’s Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) spacecraft has spotted the first major activity of the new solar cycle. On May 5 STEREO-B observed a Type II radio burst and a bright, fast coronal mass ejection (CME) emanating from the far side of the sun. The activity originated in a solar active region that rotated into view from Earth on May 8.

A Type II radio burst is a discharge of radio waves that are emitted when shocks are accelerated by a CME—the sudden eruption of energy and solar material.

The active region appears well above the sun’s equator, at about 30 degrees latitude, which indicates it is part of the new solar cycle. Activity from the previous solar cycle would appear nearer to the sun’s equator. These regions also have a distinct magnetic organization characteristic of new cycle regions.

Kurosagi (クロサギ) – The Black Swindler

“In this world, there are three types of swindlers, those who defraud other people’s money, shirosagi (white swindler); those who deceive others by manipulating their feelings, akasagi (red swindler); and those who only target the white and red swindlers, a swindler of swindlers, kurosagi (black swindler).”

Kurosagi (クロサギ) literally means Black Swindler in Japanese. This Japanese Drama based on the hit Manga series by Natsuhara Takeshi (夏原武) and illustrated by Kuromaru (黒丸). The series was adapted as an 11-episode TV drama and was first was aired back in year 2006, April.

Yamashita Tomohisa (山下智久) plays Kurosaki (黒崎), a young man seeking revenge on the shirosagi (white swindlers) by swindling them out of most, if not all of their money back to the original victim and sending enough evidence to the police capable of putting them into prison.

Kurosaki works with the master swindler Katsuragi Toshio (桂木敏夫) played by Yamazaki Tsutomu (山崎努) even though Toshio had a hand in the destruction of Kurosaki’s family.

Kurosaki’s life begins to change when he meets Yoshikawa Tsurara (吉川氷柱) played by Horikita Maki (堀北真希), a young stubborn law student, pursuing to be a prosecutor who disapproves of Kurosaki’s disrespect of the law and tries to persuade him to give up swindling and his quest for revenge.
